# Online ordering for London takeaways, borough by borough

Short answer: London has 9,438 takeaways on the Food Standards Agency register, spread over 33 councils, and each borough is its own market. Fewer London takeaways have a top hygiene rating than in England as a whole. Delivery areas are set by bridges, red routes and stations, not distance. Chefzi gives each London kitchen its own commission-free ordering site, with zones drawn around the streets you can really reach.

Borough figures, not separate pages yet

The FSA doesn't publish one London register. Each borough runs its own food safety team, and the numbers are very different from one borough to the next. Richmond has 71 takeaways. Camden has more than ten times that. A kitchen in Peckham and a kitchen in Wembley face different customers, different competition and different traffic.

The three boroughs with the most takeaways, from the 19 Oct 2026 extract:

  • Camden: 776 takeaways. A lunchtime market around Euston, King's Cross and Holborn, and the largest backlog of businesses awaiting a first inspection of the three.
  • Southwark: 625 takeaways. A third of them in SE1, and the lowest share rated 0–2 of the three.
  • Brent: 503 takeaways. Chicken shops are the biggest named group, and Wembley Stadium event days shape delivery.

Borough pages are not published yet. These counts are the extract. They are not links.

Delivery zones in London: think in minutes, not miles

A two-mile circle in London can include a five-minute ride and a thirty-minute crawl over a bridge. With delivery zones you set each zone's fee, minimum order and delivery time, so the streets next door are cheap and quick and the far side of the river costs more or isn't offered. Chefzi checks the customer's postcode at checkout, so an order from outside your zones never reaches the kitchen. If you're short of riders, remove the outer zone or turn delivery off and stay open for collection.

Collection is big in London

Plenty of London customers walk. Office workers order ahead at 12:15 and collect at 12:30. Commuters order on the train and pick up on the way home. Pre-orders with a chosen collection time suit both. Your kitchen app rings until somebody accepts the order with a ready time.

Several London sites?

Each location gets its own menu, zones and monthly fee, so a group with a Camden kitchen and a Brixton kitchen runs two separate sites under one login.
