Peri peri takeaways have become a fixture of UK high streets, and the menu has a shape that suits online ordering: a chicken portion, a heat level, a couple of sides and a drink. Get those four choices structured and almost every order arrives on the kitchen screen in the same clear format. Chefzi does that on your own website, with no commission.
The four choices that matter
- Portion. Quarter, half or whole chicken, wings by the 5 or 10, butterfly breast, thighs, or a wrap, pitta or burger. Each has its own price.
- Heat. A required choice for every grilled item. Name the scale as your customers know it, for example lemon and herb, mild, medium, hot and extra hot.
- Sides. Chips, spicy rice, corn, coleslaw, halloumi or salad, with regular and large sizes where you offer them.
- Drinks and desserts. Bottled drinks, shakes and desserts as easy add-ons at checkout.
Make the heat choice required, never optional. A missing heat level is one of the most common reasons a peri peri order goes back to the kitchen, and a required step removes that problem.
Platters and family deals
Platters for two or four are popular for weekend nights. Build each one as a bundle: a fixed amount of chicken with a heat choice, plus "choose two large sides" and a drinks choice. If customers often want two heat levels on one platter, add a second heat choice for half of the chicken so the grill team sees "half medium, half hot".
Timing the grill
Whole chickens take longer than wraps. Set realistic prep times and raise them on busy nights so collection customers arrive when food is ready. Scheduled orders let customers order earlier in the day for a set time, which spreads the load on the grill.
On the kitchen display system, each ticket shows portion, heat and sides on separate lines, which is easier to read across a hot grill than a printed note.
Halal and allergens
Many UK peri peri shops serve halal chicken. If yours does, say so in the menu header and on relevant items, and only for items you can stand behind. Write allergens into each item: some marinades and sauces contain mustard, milk or gluten, and halloumi contains milk. Keep a phone number on the page for allergy questions.
Delivery and your own drivers
With Chefzi online ordering features, you draw delivery zones on a map and set a fee and minimum order for each. Family platters travel well, so a higher minimum on the outer zone keeps long runs worth the trip. Collection orders can be the main trade on weekday evenings.
Counter and phone orders
Chefzi POS is the free browser till included with your plan. Counter, phone and web orders land in one queue, and when you run out of wings you mark them unavailable once for the whole shop. It runs on a tablet, laptop or phone you already own.
Getting customers to order direct
- Put your order link on your Google Business Profile and social profiles.
- Print a QR code that opens your ordering page on bags, sauce pots or receipts.
- Send a short text when you add a new sauce or limited heat level.
Pricing and switching
Chefzi is £39 a month per location billed annually (£49 if billed monthly) with everything included (excluding VAT). Every plan has unlimited orders, 0% commission and no setup fee. We move your menu from any provider for free, including heat and portion options. GloriaFood closes on 30 April 2027, so if you are using it, plan your move well ahead. See Chefzi pricing for details.
If your shop is mainly fried chicken and buckets, the chicken shop page fits better. If you run a charcoal grill with a wider kebab and mixed grill menu, the Turkish and charcoal grill page covers grill-led menus.
A typical order, step by step
A customer chooses a whole chicken for a family, half medium and half hot, two large chips, spicy rice and corn, adds four wings at extra hot and two bottled drinks, and picks collection at 7pm. The grill sees the chicken split and heat levels first, the fryer sees the chips and wings, and the counter sees the drinks, all from one ticket.
Before you go live
- Write your heat scale once and use it on every grilled item.
- Decide whether platters allow two heat levels.
- Check which sauces and marinades contain allergens, and note them on each item.
Popular UK areas: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester and Luton.
Frequently asked questions
Can customers choose a heat level for each chicken?
Yes. Add a required heat choice, such as lemon and herb, mild, medium, hot and extra hot, to every grilled item. It prints on the kitchen ticket.
Can I sell quarter, half and whole chicken?
Yes. Set chicken as one item with a size choice, each with its own price, then the heat choice and sides.
Can I show that my chicken is halal?
Yes, if it is. Put it in your item descriptions and menu header. Only state halal for items you can stand behind.
