Migration guide
How to migrate from GloriaFood before 30 April 2027
Updated 19 October 2026 · Arslan Munir
GloriaFood reaches end of life on 30 April 2027, and Oracle has said there will be no extensions (Oracle EOL FAQ). If you sell through any paid GloriaFood add-on, your service can end earlier, because paid services stop when your last 30-day renewal period runs out in April. For the background, read GloriaFood is shutting down: what UK restaurants must do.
This page is the working checklist. Print it or copy it into a notes app and tick it off. It works with any replacement system. Where Chefzi does a step for you, we say so.
Before you start: find your real deadline
- Open the GloriaFood admin and note the next renewal date of every paid service you use: online payments, branded app, sales-optimised website, POS.
- Count forward in 30-day periods to find the last period that ends in April 2027. That date is your hard stop for that service.
- Set your own switch-over target at least four weeks before the earliest of those dates. That leaves room for a QR reprint and a bad week. Four weeks is our recommendation, not a statistic.
Step 1: Export your menu
- Get a complete copy of the menu: categories, items, descriptions, prices, sizes, extras groups (with min/max choices and prices), and item photos you own.
- Use GloriaFood’s Fetch Menu integration if you can. It returns the menu as JSON or XML. The export guide has the exact steps.
- To check the JSON as a spreadsheet without installing Python, use the menu converter. It runs in your browser and does not upload the file.
- If not, take screenshots of every category and open every item that has extras. Extras are the part most often missed.
- Save your allergen wording separately. You remain responsible for it in the new system.
Step 2: Export clients, orders and reports
- In GloriaFood, go to Reports, then List View, and export the Clients list and the Orders list.
- Export any promotion stats you want to keep.
- Store the files in one access-controlled folder. They contain names, phone numbers, emails and addresses.
- Note which customers agreed to receive marketing. You will need this before you message anyone (see Step 9).
Step 3: Record every setting
Copy this table and fill it in from the GloriaFood admin. It is the information people most often forget to move.
| Setting | What to write down |
|---|---|
| Delivery zones | Name or postcode list, or the radius in miles. Screenshot any drawn zone. |
| Per zone | Delivery fee, minimum order, estimated delivery time |
| Opening hours | Collection and delivery hours separately, per day |
| Cut-offs | Last order time, pre-order rules, how far ahead customers can order |
| Holidays | Known closures over the next six months |
| Payments | Cash allowed? Card only? Any card minimum? |
| Promotions | Codes you want to keep, with their rules and end dates |
| Service charges | Any bag or service fee, and how it is labelled |
| Tax display | Whether prices shown include VAT, if you are VAT-registered |
For help setting sensible fees and minimums, see delivery zones, fees and your own drivers.
Step 4: List every link and QR code
- Website “Order online” buttons, including the footer and any popups
- Google Business Profile order link
- Facebook page button, Instagram bio link, pinned posts, link-in-bio tools
- WhatsApp Business catalogue or auto-replies
- QR codes: window, counter, printed menus, flyers, bags, table cards, vehicle livery
- Old links you sent by text or email
Count the printed items. That number tells you how much lead time the reprint needs.
Step 5: Set up the new system
- Book a call. Chefzi opens the account and adds the location. There is no online signup.
- Rebuild the menu from your export. With Chefzi, we do this for you from your GloriaFood export or screenshots. It is included, with no setup fee.
- Re-enter delivery zones, fees, minimums and hours from your Step 3 table.
- Connect card payments to your own payment account, if you take cards online.
- Add your allergen wording and check that every item has it where needed.
Step 6: Set up the kitchen device
- Install the order app on the tablet you will keep in the kitchen. Chefzi’s kitchen app runs on Android.
- Turn the volume up and check the alert can be heard over the extractor fan and fryers.
- Switch off battery optimisation and screen-sleep settings that might silence the app.
- Set up offline alerts. Chefzi sends an SMS and then makes a phone call if the tablet drops off.
- Decide who answers it on each shift.
More on choosing a device: best tablet for restaurant online orders.
Step 7: Test like a customer
Do every test on a phone, on mobile data rather than the shop Wi-Fi.
| Test | What should happen |
|---|---|
| Item with paid extras | Price updates correctly; the ticket shows every extra |
| Address inside a zone | Correct fee, minimum and time |
| Address just outside a zone | Checkout refuses it |
| Order below the minimum | Checkout blocks it |
| Sold-out item | It cannot be paid for |
| Order outside opening hours | Refused or offered as a pre-order, as you intended |
| Promo code | Applies once, with the right rules |
| Card payment | Goes through; the money reaches your payment account |
| Accept with a prep time | Customer sees the time |
| Reject with a reason | The order shows as rejected, with the reason. Chefzi does not refund the card. Refund it in your payment provider if the customer paid. |
- Fix every failure before you change any public link.
Step 8: Switch the links
- Update the website button, or paste the new embed onto your existing site. If GloriaFood built your website, put the replacement site live first (see what a restaurant website needs to take the order).
- In Google Business Profile, open the food ordering settings, add your own ordering link and, if you want, set it as preferred for pickup or delivery. Google’s help page explains how (Google).
- Update social links and pinned posts.
- Order and install new QR codes. Test each printed code with two different phones.
Step 9: Tell your regular customers, lawfully
- Use only contact details you have a lawful basis to use. Under PECR, the soft opt-in can allow you to email or text your own previous customers about similar products, provided they were given a chance to opt out when you collected their details and in every message. It does not cover bought-in lists (ICO).
- Keep the message short: new ordering link, nothing else changes, same menu and prices.
- Include an easy unsubscribe.
Step 10: Run in parallel, then switch GloriaFood off
- Leave GloriaFood live only while someone is watching both devices.
- After the first real orders have gone through the new system and the kitchen is comfortable, turn off ordering in GloriaFood.
- Watch for customers using old links for the next few weeks. A sign on the counter helps.
Step 11: Cancel and close down
- Download any final reports.
- Cancel paid online ordering services in the GloriaFood self-service panel. Oracle says access continues to the next renewal date. POS and Oracle Payment are cancelled via chat.
- Remember Oracle’s 30-day window for retrieving data after cancellation or expiry. Treat it as a backstop, not the plan.
If something goes wrong on a busy night
Have a fallback ready before you switch:
- Keep the old GloriaFood link working until you have actually turned it off. Re-enabling it is your quickest rollback while it still exists.
- Have a phone-order sheet printed so staff can take orders by hand.
- Know who to call. Chefzi support is reachable from the help page.

Is there commission?
No. Chefzi charges 0% commission on the order. Standard Stripe card processing fees apply.
What is the difference between the two monthly prices?
£19 a month is for restaurants taking cash orders, including cash on delivery and cash on collection, or taking no card payment online. £29 a month includes online card payments through Stripe. Standard Stripe card processing fees apply.
How long does it take to migrate from GloriaFood?
It depends on the size of your menu and how many links and QR codes you need to change. Allow time for testing and for printing new QR codes, and aim to finish weeks before your last paid GloriaFood period ends, not on 30 April 2027.
Can I run GloriaFood and a new system at the same time?
Yes, briefly, as long as someone is watching both order devices. Turn off GloriaFood ordering once real orders are flowing through the new system so that orders are not missed or cooked twice.
What should I export from GloriaFood before switching?
Your full menu, including sizes and extras, your client list, your order history and any reports you want to keep. GloriaFood offers a Fetch Menu integration for the menu and List View exports under Reports for clients and orders.
Do I need a new website to leave GloriaFood?
Not necessarily. If you already have a website, you can point its order button at your new ordering page or embed the new system. If GloriaFood built your website, you will need a replacement site.
What happens to my Google Order online link?
You need to change it yourself in Google Business Profile. Food ordering links are managed in the profile’s food ordering settings, and you can add your own ordering link.
