Switching off GloriaFood: turn off ordering, cancel, close down
By Arslan Munir
Most of a GloriaFood move is building: the menu, the zones, the hours, the kitchen app. The last part is the opposite. You have to stop something that still works, and stop it cleanly, so that no customer pays on a widget nobody is watching and no renewal goes through for a service you've left.
This page covers that one job. For the whole sequence, use the full GloriaFood migration checklist. For the background and what Oracle has said, read the GloriaFood shutdown guide. Chefzi isn't affiliated with GloriaFood or Oracle. If your brand matters as much as the menu, here is how to keep your brand when you switch.
Before you touch anything: is the new system ready?
Only start switching off when all of these are true:
- Real orders, not just tests, have come through the new system and been accepted in the kitchen.
- Staff on every shift know which device rings now.
- Card payments, if you take them, have reached your payment account.
- Your GloriaFood orders, clients and reports are saved somewhere you control. If not, save your GloriaFood reports first.
If any box is empty, keep both systems running and keep someone watching both. The kitchen side of that overlap is covered in replacing the GloriaFood order-taking app.
Step 1: Work out your dates, service by service
Oracle's end-of-life FAQ (version 1.0, March 2026, checked 25 October 2026) sets 30 April 2027 as the end date for every GloriaFood product: Online Ordering on both the free and paid tiers, Point of Sale with its hardware, and Oracle Payment. It also says extensions past that date are not possible.
Paid services don't all run to that date. Each renews on its own billing cycle, which for Online Ordering services is 30 days, and each ends when its final renewal runs out. Oracle's own example: a 30-day service renewed on 3 March 2027 runs to 3 April 2027 and stops then, even though the end-of-life date is later. Renewals are only accepted up to one month before 30 April 2027.
So write a short table before you plan anything:
| Service | Next renewal date | Billing cycle | How to cancel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online Ordering (free tier) | None | None | Runs to 30 April 2027; remove your links |
| Each paid Online Ordering add-on | From the admin | Usually 30 days | Self-service panel in the admin |
| Point of Sale | From your account | Check your order | Chat in the account portal |
| Oracle Payment | From your account | Check your order | Chat in the account portal |
The free tier stays available until 30 April 2027, according to the same FAQ. That's useful during the changeover, but it also means a forgotten widget can keep taking orders after you've stopped looking at it. Step 3 deals with that.
Step 2: Pause, with a message
GloriaFood has a Pause services option, in the order-taking app under Options, and in the admin under Setup, Services & opening hours. You can pause one service or all of them, for a set time or until the end of the day. Whatever you type in the Notification message field is shown in the ordering widget, so customers see why they can't order.
Use it for the changeover days. A message such as "We've moved. Order at yourrestaurant.co.uk" turns a closed widget into a signpost. Keep it short and use the address customers will remember.
Two cautions. A pause runs for a set time or to the end of the day, so it's a daily job, not a permanent setting; somebody has to set it again. And the pause only covers the widget. Anyone who saved an old link still lands on the GloriaFood page, which is why Step 3 matters more.
If GloriaFood built your website, its "Important Announcement" section shows a sticky note at the top of every page. While that site is still live, that's a second place to point people at the new ordering link.
Step 3: Remove every way in
A paused widget is still a door. Close the doors you control, in this order:
- Your website button and embed. Swap them for the new ordering link. The steps are in replace the GloriaFood ordering button.
- Your Google Business Profile. Replace the order link, and check it again a week later. See how to add your order link to Google.
- Facebook, Instagram and link-in-bio pages. Pinned posts too.
- QR codes. Everything printed with the old link: window stickers, menus, flyers, bags.
- Your domain, if GloriaFood hosts it. Don't cancel the hosting until the new site is live on the same address; moving a GloriaFood custom domain has the order to do it in.
Then search your own business name, click every "Order" link you find, and see where it goes. Do it again after a week. Old links turn up in places you forgot: a delivery leaflet in a drawer, a local directory, an old email footer.
Step 4: Cancel, in the right order
Cancel the services that cost money once the links are gone. There's no benefit to holding on. Oracle says Online Ordering paid services cancelled in the self-service panel stay usable until the next renewal date. Its example: renewal on 14 July, cancellation on 27 July, service until 14 August. Cancelling early stops the next charge, not the current period.
- Online Ordering paid add-ons: use the self-service cancellation in the GloriaFood admin. Do it for each one.
- Online card payments: switch GloriaFood's card payment option off before its next renewal, so no customer pays through a page you've stopped watching. If your Stripe account also connects to your new system, read move GloriaFood card payments to Stripe before you change or retire any Stripe key.
- Point of Sale and Oracle Payment: send the request through chat in your restaurant account portal, with the end date you want. Oracle says a team member follows up with next steps. Ask in the same chat what happens to any POS hardware you have, and keep the reply.
- Integrations: if you connect GloriaFood to Oracle Simphony, Oracle says Simphony itself continues under its own agreement but the GloriaFood online ordering integration stops at the end-of-life date. Plan that replacement separately.
If you do nothing, paid services end at their final renewal expiry anyway. Cancelling yourself just puts you in charge of the date.
Step 5: Keep proof
A short paper trail saves arguments later:
- A screenshot of each cancellation confirmation, with the date.
- A copy of the chat for POS or Oracle Payment requests.
- Your next bank or card statement, checked to make sure no new GloriaFood renewal went through.
- A note of the date you made your last download, and where the files are.
Keep these with the GloriaFood exports, in one folder, with a one-line note saying what each file is.
The data window
After a service expires, is cancelled or is terminated, Oracle's FAQ says you can retrieve your data for 30 days, by asking through chat. That's a safety net, not a plan. Download what you need while you can still log in yourself, before you cancel anything.
Once you've switched, think about the copies you keep. Your clients file holds names, phone numbers, emails and addresses. The ICO's storage limitation guidance says you should keep personal data no longer than you need it and be able to justify how long that is. Decide how long you'll keep the file, write the reason down, and delete spare copies on staff phones and laptops.
If something goes wrong after switch-off
Have a plan for the first busy night without GloriaFood:
- The new system stops ringing. Keep a printed phone-order sheet by the till, and know who you'll call for support.
- A customer says they paid on the old page. Check the GloriaFood admin while you still have access, and refund through your payment provider if the money came in.
- You need GloriaFood back for a night. While a service hasn't ended, you can unpause it. Once it has ended, there's no going back, so don't rush the cancellation of anything you might still need in the first week.
A one-page switch-off checklist
- Real orders accepted on the new system; every shift trained.
- GloriaFood orders, clients and reports downloaded and saved twice.
- A renewal-date table for every GloriaFood service.
- Pause set with a "we've moved" message for the changeover days.
- Website, Google, social links and QR codes all point at the new page.
- Paid Online Ordering add-ons cancelled in the admin.
- POS and Oracle Payment end dates requested by chat.
- Screenshots, chat copies and the next statement saved.
- Client data retention decided and written down.
Where Chefzi fits
If you're still choosing what to switch to, Chefzi vs GloriaFood lays out the differences. Chefzi will move a GloriaFood menu without retyping it: send your Fetch Menu file, or screenshots, and the menu is rebuilt for you to check, with no setup fee. Orders reach the Chefzi app on the phone or tablet you already have, and it rings until someone accepts or rejects. Ordering can be paused in Chefzi too, so the habit carries over. There's no POS or till, so if you used GloriaFood's POS, plan how you'll ring up walk-in sales before you cancel it.
Keep every order on your own site
Early Black Friday & Cyber Monday Deal: new sign-ups get 3 months free, with no setup fee. The deal ends at 23:59 on 1 December 2026. Migration from GloriaFood or any other provider is 100% free.
After the free period, Chefzi is £9 a month for cash or no-card ordering, or £19 a month with online card payments through Stripe, per location, excluding VAT. Standard Stripe fees apply. There's no setup fee and no commission on any order. See Chefzi pricing and what Chefzi does not do.
Frequently asked questions
When does GloriaFood stop working?
Oracle's end-of-life FAQ gives 30 April 2027 as the date all GloriaFood products and services end, with no extensions. Paid services can stop sooner: each one ends at the expiry of its last renewal, which falls between 1 and 30 April 2027 unless you cancel earlier.
If I cancel a paid GloriaFood service today, do I lose it today?
No. For Online Ordering paid services, Oracle says you keep access until your next renewal date. Its example: renew on 14 July, cancel on 27 July, and the service runs until 14 August. So you lose nothing by cancelling as soon as your new system is taking orders.
How do I cancel GloriaFood POS or Oracle Payment?
Oracle says Point of Sale and Oracle Payment cancellations are requested through the chat in your restaurant account portal, giving the end date you want. A team member then follows up. Online Ordering paid services are cancelled in the self-service panel in the admin instead.
Can I get my GloriaFood data after I cancel?
Oracle's FAQ says you can retrieve your data for 30 days after your services expire, are cancelled or are terminated, by asking through chat. Download your orders, clients and reports before you cancel rather than relying on that window.
Can I pause GloriaFood instead of cancelling?
GloriaFood's Pause services option stops new orders for a set time or until the end of the day and shows your message in the ordering widget. It suits the changeover week. It is not a permanent switch-off, so you still need to unlink and cancel.
