GloriaFood is shutting down: what UK restaurants need to do before 30 April 2027

Updated 19 October 2026 · Arslan Munir

GloriaFood is closing. Oracle, which owns it, has published an end-of-life FAQ confirming that every GloriaFood product and service reaches end of life on 30 April 2027. The free online ordering, the paid add-ons, GloriaFood POS and its hardware, and Oracle Payment are all included (Oracle GloriaFood EOL FAQ). GloriaFood’s own website shows the same date in a banner on its homepage.

If your takeaway or restaurant takes orders through a GloriaFood “Order online” button, a GloriaFood-built website or a GloriaFood app, that order path will stop. This guide explains what Oracle has actually confirmed, what that means for a UK restaurant in practice, and a dated plan for switching without losing a weekend of orders.

One detail to start with: 30 April 2027 is a Friday. For most takeaways that is one of the busiest nights of the week. Nobody wants to discover a dead ordering link at 7pm on a Friday, so the sensible target is to be fully switched over weeks before then, not on the day.

What Oracle has confirmed

These points come from Oracle’s Oracle GloriaFood EOL Frequently Asked Questions (Version 1.0, March 2026). Read the document yourself as well. It is short.

  • End of life: 30 April 2027. This covers all GloriaFood products and services, and the GloriaFood partner programme.
  • No new direct customers. Oracle no longer signs new direct agreements with restaurants. New restaurants can only be onboarded through existing GloriaFood partners.
  • Some add-ons are no longer sold. With immediate effect, you can no longer add the Sales Optimized Website, Branded Mobile App, Branded Partner Website, POS or Oracle Payment.
  • The free tier stays until the end. If you only use the free online ordering, it remains available until the end-of-life date.
  • Paid services end with your last renewal. Renewals are accepted up to one month before the end-of-life date. After that, your service ends when the current subscription period expires, which will fall somewhere between 1 and 30 April 2027. Paid online ordering services run on 30-day terms. Oracle’s own example: a third-party online payments subscription renewed on 3 March 2027 runs until 3 April 2027 and then stops.
  • No extensions. Oracle states that extensions past the end-of-life date are not possible.
  • Data access lasts 30 days. You can retrieve your data for 30 days after expiration, termination or cancellation.
  • Integrations stop. The Oracle Simphony and OPERA integrations will stop working.
  • No recommended replacement. Oracle says it cannot recommend third-party providers.
  • Support is by chat in your GloriaFood account.

What this means for a UK takeaway in practice

The headline date is 30 April, but for many restaurants things will stop working earlier.

If you pay for any add-on, your real deadline may be early April. Online payments, the branded app or the sales-optimised website are billed in 30-day periods. Your last period will end on whatever date in April it happens to fall. Look up your next renewal date in the GloriaFood admin and count forward in 30-day steps. The last period that starts before the renewal cut-off is the one that ends your service. Write that date down. For your restaurant it matters more than 30 April.

If you take card payments through GloriaFood, card orders go first. When the online payments add-on lapses, customers who expect to pay by card will hit a problem before the menu itself disappears. If most of your orders are paid by card, plan around that date.

Every link that points at GloriaFood will break. Most restaurants have more of these than they remember:

  • the “Order online” button on your own website
  • the order link on your Google Business Profile
  • Instagram and Facebook bio links, and pinned posts
  • QR codes on the window, printed menus, flyers, bags and table cards
  • old leaflets still sitting in customers’ kitchen drawers
  • links in text messages or emails you have sent to regulars

Printed QR codes are the slow ones. A reprint takes time and money, so put them first on your list.

Your kitchen routine changes. GloriaFood’s order-taking app is part of the service. Your staff will need a new tablet app, a new way to accept orders and set prep times, and a new habit for checking that the device is online and audible. See the kitchen tablet that rings.

Your customer list is yours to move. GloriaFood’s reporting lets you export client and order lists. You can only use customer contact details for marketing in line with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We cover this in the export guide.

A dated plan to switch without drama

You do not need to move this week. You do need to start early enough that you can test properly and change your links before the busy season. Here is the order we suggest.

Now to the end of December 2026: gather and decide

  1. Export your menu. GloriaFood has an official “Fetch Menu” integration that returns your full menu as structured data, including categories, items, sizes and extras. Our export guide walks through it. If that’s too technical, screenshots of every category and every extras group will do.
  2. Export your clients and orders. Use Reports, then List View, in the GloriaFood admin. Keep the files somewhere safe and access-controlled. They contain personal data.
  3. Write down your settings. For each delivery zone, record the fee, minimum order and estimated delivery time. Also note opening hours (collection and delivery separately), holiday closures, pre-order rules and any promo codes you want to keep.
  4. List every link and QR code. Use the list above as a starting point and add anything specific to your shop.
  5. Choose a replacement. Compare the total monthly cost, any commission, contract length, who owns the customer data, and whether the tablet app is loud enough for your kitchen. See our fair comparison of GloriaFood alternatives, the GloriaFood alternative page and Chefzi vs GloriaFood.

January to February 2027: build and test

  1. Rebuild the menu in the new system. Then check it line by line against your export. The items that cause refunds are extras that change the price, and sizes.
  2. Place real test orders on a phone. Order something with paid extras, use an address inside a delivery zone and one outside it, and try an item marked sold out. Accept one order with a prep time and reject one with a reason.
  3. Run both systems side by side for a short period. Do this only while someone is watching both tablets.

By early March 2027: switch the links

  1. Change your website button, Google Business Profile link and social links to the new ordering page.
  2. Replace QR codes on everything you print.
  3. Tell your regulars, using only the contact routes you have a lawful basis to use.
  4. Turn off ordering in GloriaFood once real orders are flowing through the new system and the kitchen is comfortable with it.

Before your last GloriaFood period ends: tidy up

  1. Download anything else you want to keep, such as reports and promotion stats.
  2. Cancel paid GloriaFood services through the self-service panel. Oracle says access continues until the next renewal date. POS and payment services are cancelled through chat.
  3. Do not rely on the 30-day data window. Treat it as a safety net, not a plan.

Questions to ask any replacement provider

Oracle won’t recommend anyone, so the choice is yours. These questions separate the options quickly:

  • What will I pay each month, per location, including VAT? Ask for the number in pounds, not a range. Chefzi’s pricing is published in one place.
  • Is there commission or a per-order fee on top? On a £20 order, what does the provider take? The commission calculator is for marketplace invoices.
  • Who processes card payments, and what does that cost? Card fees are usually separate from the software fee.
  • Is there a contract or minimum term? What happens if I want to leave after three months?
  • Will you move my menu, or do I have to retype it?
  • What does the kitchen device do if it goes offline? Silence is the most expensive failure in a takeaway.
  • Can I export my own customer and order data at any time?
  • Do I get a website, or only an ordering page? Can I keep my existing site and add a button?

Where Chefzi fits

Chefzi is a UK online ordering system built as a straightforward GloriaFood replacement. It costs £0 for the first three months, then £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe per location excluding VAT, with 0% commission on orders and no contract. Card processing is charged by your payment provider, not by Chefzi. We move your menu as part of the product, including from a GloriaFood export. The Android kitchen app rings until someone accepts or rejects the order, and it sends an SMS and then makes a phone call if the tablet drops offline.

The Polash in Southend-on-Sea is already taking orders on Chefzi. If you want to see whether it suits your kitchen, Book a call or read the GloriaFood alternative page and Chefzi vs GloriaFood. If you are weighing marketplace fees as well, try the commission calculator.

Whatever you choose, the important thing is the order of work: export, choose, rebuild, test, switch the links, then switch off. Do it in that order with time to spare, and the 30 April closure will be a non-event for your customers.

Questions

When is GloriaFood shutting down?

Oracle has confirmed that all GloriaFood products and services reach end of life on 30 April 2027. That includes free and paid online ordering, GloriaFood POS and hardware, and Oracle Payment.

Can I keep using the free version of GloriaFood until then?

Yes. Oracle’s end-of-life FAQ says the free tier remains available until the end-of-life date. Paid services end when your last renewal period runs out, between 1 and 30 April 2027.

Can I get an extension past 30 April 2027?

No. Oracle’s FAQ states that no extensions are possible beyond the end-of-life date.

Will I be able to download my data after GloriaFood closes?

Oracle says data can be retrieved for 30 days after expiration, termination or cancellation. Export your menu, customer list and order history well before then rather than relying on that window.

Does Oracle recommend a replacement for GloriaFood?

No. Oracle’s FAQ says it cannot recommend third-party providers, so you need to choose a replacement yourself.

Can I still add GloriaFood’s branded app or POS?

No. Oracle has stopped new sales of the Sales Optimized Website, Branded Mobile App, Branded Partner Website, POS and Oracle Payment add-ons.
