Guides
Best online ordering systems in the UK (2026)
If you run a restaurant or takeaway in the UK, your own ordering channel saves you marketplace commission on customers who already know you. It's also urgent for thousands of GloriaFood users, because GloriaFood says it'll be retired on 30 April 2027.
This roundup compares seven options on the things that matter to an independent: published price, per-order fees, contract, delivery, kitchen tools and how easy it is to switch.
Our bias, disclosed: Chefzi made this guide, and Chefzi is one of the seven. To keep it fair, every competitor fact comes from the provider's own public pages (checked 19 October 2026 and linked below). We've given honest "best for" picks, including several where Chefzi isn't the answer. We don't use ratings or review scores. Corrections are welcome at chefziofficial@gmail.com.
How we compared
- Price: the published monthly fee, per-order fee or commission, and setup fees
- Contract: rolling or fixed term
- Delivery: your own drivers, or courier integration
- Kitchen: how orders reach the pass
- Extras: POS, kiosks, apps and loyalty
- Switching: menu migration
Where something isn't published, we say "not published" instead of guessing.

Honest "best for" picks
Best for a low fixed cost at a single site: Chefzi
£19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe after three free months, with no commission, no per-order fee and no contract. You get an ordering site, a website generated from your menu (or an embed for your own), an Android kitchen app that rings until someone accepts or rejects, SMS and phone-call alerts if the tablet goes offline, delivery zones by area, radius or postcode, QR table ordering, card payments, receipts and promo codes. We move the menu for you, including from GloriaFood. Not for you if you need a POS, kiosks, a branded app, loyalty or courier delivery.
Best free starting point with courier delivery: Storekit
No monthly fee on Starter, Uber Direct and a kitchen display included, and rolling contracts. You pay a flat per-order rate, so ask for the figure. It scales up to loyalty, catering, kiosks and a native app. See Chefzi vs Storekit.
Best all-in-one with POS: Flipdish
POS, online ordering, branded apps, kiosks, CRM and marketing from one supplier, with clear "from" prices. It's a good fit for growing groups. See Flipdish pricing and Flipdish alternatives.
Best for premium brands and multi-site groups: Slerp
A polished branded experience, native app, loyalty, CRM and delivery integrations. It costs more and usually comes with a 12 or 24-month term. See Slerp pricing and Slerp alternatives.
Best if you want marketing done for you: OrderYOYO
A percentage-based model that includes hosting, support, ongoing online advertising, a start-up marketing pack and card fees. It suits owners who don't want to run their own marketing. See OrderYOYO alternatives.
Best if you already use Square's till: Square Online
A free plan, with orders flowing into the Square ecosystem.
Leaving GloriaFood
GloriaFood users need to move before 30 April 2027. Any of the options above can work. Prioritise a painless menu move and a cost you're comfortable with once any free period ends. See our GloriaFood alternative page.
Worked example: 300 orders a month at £20
Monthly platform cost before card processing, using published figures only:
- Chefzi: £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe. Standard Stripe card processing fees apply.
- Storekit Starter: £0 + 300 × Storekit's per-order rate (not published, so ask for it)
- Flipdish Website (annual): £49 + any fees not shown on the pricing page
- Slerp (web tier): £125 + the platform fee on 300 orders
- OrderYOYO at 6%: 300 × £20 × 6% = £360, including card fees, at the lowest published rate
- Square Online free plan: card fees only. 300 × (1.4% × £20 + 25p) = £159.
To compare fairly, add your own card processing cost to every option except OrderYOYO and Square, which already include it. Try the commission calculator.
What about Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats?
They're marketplaces, not ordering systems you own. Most restaurants keep them for discovery and add their own channel for regulars. Read their terms on pricing and customer data first: Just Eat alternative, Deliveroo alternative and Uber Eats alternative.
A five-minute checklist for choosing
- Add up what you pay now in commission and fees.
- Shortlist two or three systems from the table that fit your size.
- Ask each for anything not published: per-order rates, card fees, hardware and notice.
- Ask for a menu move and a test order before you commit.

Questions
What is the best online ordering system for a UK takeaway?
There isn't one best system for everyone. On published prices, Chefzi (£19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe after three free months, 0% commission) and Storekit Starter (no monthly fee plus a flat per-order rate) suit budget-conscious independents. Flipdish suits those wanting POS and online ordering together, and Slerp suits premium multi-site brands.
Which online ordering systems are commission-free?
Chefzi, Storekit and Slerp all say they don't charge marketplace-style commission. Storekit adds a flat per-order rate, and Slerp a platform fee on orders. OrderYOYO publishes commission 'as low as 6% per order'. Square charges card processing per transaction.
What should replace GloriaFood?
GloriaFood says its service will be retired on 30 April 2027. Look for a system with a simple menu move, similar features (ordering, kitchen app, delivery zones) and a cost you can live with once any free period ends.
Do I need a branded app?
Not usually for a small takeaway. A fast mobile ordering page works on any phone without a download. Apps help brands with frequent repeat customers and loyalty schemes.
Why is Chefzi in its own roundup?
Chefzi wrote this guide, so we've included our own product and disclosed it. We've used each provider's own published facts, said where Chefzi isn't the best fit, and linked every figure to its source.
