Alternatives
Uber Eats alternative for UK restaurants
Uber Eats can put your menu in front of a huge audience, and on busy nights its couriers save you hiring drivers. The trade-off is a percentage of every order, plus an up-front activation fee. Most restaurants that look for an Uber Eats alternative don't leave entirely. They add a commission-free channel for the customers who already know them.

What Uber's UK merchant terms say
We read the Uber Eats Merchant Terms and Conditions for the UK (last modified 16 June 2025).
Prices. The merchant "is responsible for determining and setting the original listed price" of each item on Uber Eats (the "Retail Price"). We found no price-parity clause requiring your website or in-store prices to match. Uber's customer help page says prices on Uber Eats "may differ from prices and offers at the merchant". Your Order Form can contain extra terms, so check it.
Customer data. "Merchant agrees to use Personal Data provided to Merchant by Uber UK solely for the purpose of providing Items to Customers", "solely by using the Uber Tools", and "shall not copy, store, retain, remove from the Uber Tools or otherwise process the Personal Data." In plain English: don't export Uber Eats customers to market your website.
Term. The terms define a "Renewal Term" as "a one (1) year period where the Agreement automatically renews". Check your Order Form for your term and how to give notice.
Access after leaving. "After expiry or termination of this Agreement, you will lose access to Uber Data." Download your reports before you leave.
A compliant way to win direct orders
- Keep your Uber Eats listing for discovery if it brings new customers.
- Point everyone who already knows you to your own page: your Google Business Profile, website, Instagram, shopfront QR code and bag stickers.
- Pricing: Uber's terms let you set prices, but if you also use Just Eat, its UK terms (clause 7.18) restrict cheaper prices on your own online channels, and Deliveroo's ask that its prices match your in-store menu. If you use several apps, same prices everywhere is the simplest compliant choice.
- Build your own customer list from direct orders, with consent.
- Deliver direct orders yourself if you have drivers.
Options for your own ordering channel
- Chefzi: £0 for three months, then £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe per location excluding VAT, with 0% commission, no setup fee and no contract. You get online ordering for collection, delivery and scheduled orders, a website generated from your menu, an Android kitchen app that rings until answered (with SMS and phone-call alerts if it goes offline), delivery zones, QR table ordering, card payments, receipts and promo codes. We move the menu.
- Uber Eats Webshop: Uber's own direct ordering page. Uber says you can set different Webshop prices and see data for customers who opt in. Check the fees in Uber Eats Manager.
- Storekit: a free Starter plan plus a flat per-order rate, with Uber Direct couriers, if you want Uber to deliver your direct orders.
- Flipdish and Square Online: see the best online ordering systems in the UK.
When Uber Eats is still the better fit
- You don't have drivers and need delivery on demand.
- You're a delivery-only or virtual brand with no walk-in trade and no name recognition yet.
- Uber Eats brings genuinely new customers whose orders are profitable even after the fee.

Before you reduce your Uber Eats orders
- Download your sales and ratings reports from Uber Eats Manager, because Uber's terms say you lose access to Uber Data after termination.
- Check your Order Form for the renewal date and how to give notice.
- Make sure direct ordering is live and tested before you change anything on Uber Eats.
Uber Direct: Uber's couriers for your own orders
If delivery is the only reason you stay on Uber Eats, there's a middle path. Some direct-ordering platforms, such as Storekit, connect to Uber Direct, so Uber's couriers deliver orders placed on your own site. Chefzi doesn't offer courier integrations. Chefzi delivery is by your own drivers, using delivery zones with their own fees, minimums and times, or you can offer collection only.

Questions
What does Uber Eats charge restaurants in the UK?
Uber Eats' UK pricing page lists 30% for Uber Delivery (33% for Uber One members), 13% for self-delivery and 13% for pick-up, all excluding VAT, plus a £650 (ex. VAT) activation fee that can be reduced if you opt out of some items (checked 19 October 2026).
Can I charge different prices on my own website?
Uber's UK merchant terms let you set the Retail Price for each item on Uber Eats, and we found no clause requiring your other channels to match. Your Order Form may add terms, so check it. Many restaurants keep prices the same everywhere for simplicity.
Can I use Uber Eats customer details for marketing?
No. Uber's terms say personal data it provides may be used solely to provide items to customers, only through Uber's tools, and must not be copied, stored or retained. Uber's separate Webshop product shares data only for customers who opt in.
Is there a minimum term with Uber Eats?
The UK merchant terms define a Renewal Term as a one-year period in which the agreement automatically renews. Your start date, term and notice are in your Order Form.
Is Uber Eats Webshop an alternative?
It's Uber's own direct ordering page. Uber's help pages say you can set different prices for Webshop and access data for customers who opt in. Compare its fees in your Uber Eats Manager with a flat-fee option like Chefzi.
