Your own food ordering website, without the commission
A website that takes the order, not just shows the menu
Plenty of takeaway websites are digital leaflets: a photo, a PDF menu and a phone number. They look fine, but every customer still has to ring you, wait on hold at 7pm on a Saturday and read out their order while you scribble it down.
A food ordering website finishes the job. The customer picks dishes, chooses options, says when they want the food and how they will pay, and the order lands in your kitchen in writing. No mishearing "no onions", no busy line, no lost tickets. Our post on what a restaurant website needs to take the order goes through the details that make the difference.
Three ways to get a food ordering website
| Route | What it involves | Typical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Hire a designer or developer | A bespoke site, then an ordering plugin or custom build | Most control, but upfront cost and ongoing maintenance |
| A general website builder plus an add-on | Build the site yourself and bolt on ordering | Cheap to start, but menus with options and delivery zones can be fiddly |
| An ordering platform such as Chefzi | Ready-made website with ordering built in, set up with you | Less design freedom, but live quickly with no build cost |
Chefzi is the third route. We are not a web design agency and we do not build one-off sites. You get a proven ordering website that we set up with you, and you change the menu, prices and hours yourself whenever you like. If design is your priority, read our page on restaurant website design, which explains what you can and cannot change.
What your Chefzi ordering website includes
Your own domain
Yes. You can use your own domain name, such as yourrestaurant.co.uk, for your Chefzi ordering site.
A menu built for takeaway orders
Categories, dishes and prices, plus the options takeaway food needs. Use required modifiers to make customers choose a size, base or spice level, and multi-select modifiers for extras like toppings, dips and sides. Coming from GloriaFood? The menu converter turns your export into a ready-made menu.
Collection and delivery
Set separate hours for collection and delivery, draw your delivery zones and set the charge for each. Add holiday closures in advance so nobody orders on the day you are shut.
Ordering ahead
Pre-orders let customers order now for later, with a minimum lead time you choose. Useful for lunch orders, big family orders and busy evenings.
Payment options
Restaurants on the £19 plan take cash orders, including cash on delivery and cash on collection. Online card payments through Stripe are on the £29 plan, with standard Stripe processing fees. More on payments.
QR table ordering
Each table can have its own QR code. A guest scans it, orders from the phone, and the ticket reaches the same kitchen app. See QR table ordering.
Orders straight to the kitchen
The kitchen app alerts your staff until each new order is accepted, and receipts keep the details clear.
Search-friendly pages
Your menu is on real web pages, not a PDF, which helps customers find you on Google. Add the ordering link to your Google Business Profile too: here is how to add an order online link.
What is not included
So you can plan properly: Chefzi does not include a till or EPOS, a self-service kiosk, a branded app-store app, a loyalty points scheme or courier integrations. Your food ordering website runs in any browser, and you deliver with your own drivers or offer collection.

How to get your food ordering website live
- Book a call. Tell us about your menu, hours and delivery area.
- Send your menu. A photo of your printed menu, a link to an existing ordering page or a GloriaFood export all work.
- Check it together. We go through the website with you, including options, hours and delivery charges.
- Share the link. Add it to Google, your social profiles, leaflets and bag stickers.
If you are moving from GloriaFood before it closes on 30 April 2027, the migration guide has a step-by-step checklist.
Tips for getting more orders through your website
- Make the link easy to find. Put "Order online" at the top of every social profile and on your Google Business Profile, not buried in a post.
- Print it. A short web address or QR code on leaflets, menus, bag stickers and receipts reminds regulars they can order direct next time.
- Keep it accurate. Update prices and hours on the website the same day you change them in the shop, so nobody orders a dish you have stopped making.
- Use pre-orders at busy times. Letting customers book a slot for Friday or Christmas Eve spreads the rush and cuts phone calls.
- Answer the delivery question early. Clear delivery zones and charges stop customers abandoning an order at checkout.

Questions
How do I create an online food ordering website for my takeaway?
With Chefzi you book a short call, send us your menu, and we set up your ordering website with you: menu, prices, options, opening hours and delivery area. You can then edit it yourself at any time.
Do I need a web designer or developer?
No. Chefzi is a ready-made platform, so there is nothing to code and no hosting to arrange. If you already have a website, you can add ordering to it with the embed widget instead.
How much does a food ordering website cost with Chefzi?
No setup fee and 0% commission. It is free for 3 months, then £19 a month without online card payments or £29 a month with them. Standard Stripe card processing fees apply.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. You can use your own domain name, such as yourrestaurant.co.uk, for your Chefzi ordering site.
Will my food ordering website work on phones?
Yes. Most takeaway customers order on their phone, so the ordering pages are built for mobile browsers first. There is no app to download.
Can I keep my existing website?
Yes. Use the embed widget to add a Chefzi order button and menu to the website you already have.
