# Online ordering for Bradford district takeaways and restaurants

Short answer: The Bradford council district isn't one compact city. It runs from Bradford itself out to Shipley, Bingley, Keighley and Ilkley. Its 699 takeaways reflect that: the second-biggest cluster is Keighley's BD21, not anywhere in central Bradford. Hygiene results here also leave the most room to stand out in Yorkshire. Chefzi gives you a commission-free ordering site: 3 months free, then £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe.

Several towns, several delivery zones

Half of Bradford's takeaways are within 2.3 miles of the district's centre point. But the tail is long: you have to go 7 miles out to reach 90%, because Keighley, Bingley and Ilkley are separate towns with their own takeaway scenes. One radius around Bradford city centre is never going to work.

  • Inner Bradford (BD1, BD3, BD5, BD7, BD8, BD9). Dense terraced streets around the city centre, the university (BD7) and Manningham. A 1.5 to 2-mile zone around you covers most of your neighbours. The city sits in a bowl, so hills slow cycle couriers on the outward legs.
  • East and south (BD2, BD4, BD6). Eccleshill, Bierley, Wibsey and Buttershaw. Suburban family orders. A wider zone with free delivery over a set order value works here.
  • Shipley and Saltaire (BD18) and Bingley (BD16). Along the Aire valley. A shop in Shipley is better off serving BD17 and BD18 than trying to compete in central Bradford.
  • Keighley (BD21, BD20, BD22). 69 takeaways in BD21 alone, effectively its own market about 9 miles from Bradford. If you're in Keighley, your zone is Keighley. If you're in Bradford, leave it out.
  • Ilkley (LS29). Wharfedale, with a different customer profile and much smaller numbers. Plan it as its own zone too.

In Chefzi delivery zones you set prices by postcode district, so a Keighley shop and a Manningham shop each get a setup that fits their own town.

Late-night refreshment licensing

Bradford Council licenses late night refreshment under the Licensing Act 2003: hot food or hot drink supplied to the public between 11pm and 5am, including takeaway and delivery from your premises. Check the hours on your premises licence and set your online ordering cut-off to the same time.

How Chefzi helps Bradford owners

Many Bradford takeaways have had the same families as customers for years. Give them a direct way to order: a branded menu, card payments on the £29 plan, collection and district-based delivery, QR codes for bags and menus, and a kitchen app that rings until it's answered. 0% commission, free for 3 months, then £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe. If you're on GloriaFood, which closes on 30 April 2027, we'll move your menu free.

Bradford

Questions from Bradford kitchens.

I'm in Keighley. Does this page apply to me?

Yes. Keighley is part of the Bradford council district and is covered by the same council food team and licensing. Your delivery zones should be built around Keighley itself.

How do I improve from a 3 to a 5?

Read your inspection report, fix the issues it lists, keep good records and ask the council about a re-rating visit (there may be a fee).

Can I run different delivery fees in Bradford and Shipley?

Yes. Each postcode district can have its own fee and minimum order.

Do curry houses need anything special online?

Clear options for spice level, sides and set meals, plus allergen information. Chefzi supports all of these.
