Questions

Most of our orders are small and late. Does the cheaper plan cover that?

Yes. The Chefzi plan covers cash and card ordering with no cap on order numbers, no per-order fee from Chefzi and your own domain.

Can we charge more for deliveries out to LU3 and LU4 than for Bury Park?

Yes. Delivery zones, fees and minimum orders are yours to set, so a short Bury Park run and a longer one across town can carry different charges. Collection can be switched on for the customers who are nearest.

We are a chicken shop with our own meal deals. Can they go online as they are?

Yes. The menu is built the way you sell it, with categories and deals, and that trade is covered on online ordering for chicken shops. Orders then arrive in the app with the deal attached.

What happens to our GloriaFood menu when it closes?

GloriaFood closes on 30 April 2027. Send a menu export, screenshots or the link to your ordering page and the migration is free; the steps are on moving from GloriaFood.

Food Standards Agency figures for Luton

These counts are from the Food Standards Agency open data, pulled on 21 October 2026. “Takeaway” means the FSA business type “Takeaway/sandwich shop”. Cuisine rows are a name-keyword estimate, not a census, and 51% of takeaway names were not classified. How ratings work, including appeals and re-inspections, is a separate guide.

# Online ordering for Luton takeaways and restaurants

Short answer: Luton is one of the most tightly packed takeaway towns in the country: all 213 takeaways on the FSA register sit in four postcode districts (LU1 to LU4), with a median distance of under a mile from the middle of the register. When every customer has dozens of shops within one delivery run, the shops that hold up keep their regulars ordering direct. Chefzi has 0% commission ever, no setup fee and free menu migration. Chefzi is £39 a month per location billed annually (£49 if billed monthly), ex VAT, with everything included. Current offer: One plan at £39 a month per location, ex VAT: ordering website, your own branded app (Android & iOS), EPOS till, kitchen screen, SMS and email marketing (GDPR compliant) and loyalty rewards. 0% commission ever, no setup fee, free migration and one month free.

What makes Luton different

Chicken is big. By business name, pizza (24) is followed closely by chicken (22), well ahead of fish and chips (19). Chicken shops live on repeat, late, small-basket orders, which is where app commission eats margin fastest.

LU1 leads. LU1 (town centre and Bury Park) has 73 takeaways, a third of the town's total, with LU2, LU3 and LU4 on 45 to 47 each.

Hygiene leaves room to stand out. 51.1% of rated takeaways have a 5, against England's 61.9%. If you have a 5, it's worth showing customers.

How Chefzi helps Luton food businesses

Luton's takeaway trade sits in a few tight clusters. Dunstable Road runs north-west out of the town centre through Bury Park, where the curry houses, sweet shops and grocers sit shoulder to shoulder; High Town Road, a short walk over the pedestrian bridge from the station, has its own row of independent kitchens. St George's Square and the streets around it pick up the town-centre lunch and late-night trade. With 73 of the town's 213 takeaways in LU1 alone, most customers have a dozen choices inside a single delivery run.

  • A site you control. A mobile-friendly ordering page on your own domain, built around the menu and the meal deals you already sell.
  • The Chefzi order app. Tickets arrive on a phone or tablet you already own, so there is no POS or extra hardware to buy before you start.
  • Zones, fees and minimums by area. A Bury Park shop and one on the far side of LU4 have different economics, so delivery zones, charges and minimum orders are set per area. Collection is available for the customers close enough to walk.
  • Table service too. Reservations and QR table ordering are there for the sit-down rooms on Dunstable Road that also sell takeaway.
  • Out of GloriaFood before the shutdown. Menu migration costs nothing, and the guide also covers moving your opening hours and scheduled orders across; see moving from GloriaFood ahead of 30 April 2027.
