A Square for Restaurants alternative for UK restaurants and takeaways

Square for Restaurants is a well-known POS in the UK, with its own card readers and hardware. Chefzi POS takes a different approach: a browser till built into your online ordering, on flat monthly pricing. Here's how they compare, using Square's own published UK pricing.
Square for Restaurants pricing (from Square's UK site)
According to Square's UK restaurant pricing page:
- Free plan: £0 a month plus processing fees.
- Plus plan: £69 a month per location plus processing fees, which Square says adds features such as course management, live sales reporting and 24/7 support.
- In-person card rate: 1.75%. Online: 1.4% + 25p for UK cards, 2.5% + 25p for non-UK cards.
- Square KDS: £15 a month per KDS device on Free, included on Plus.
- Square Loyalty: from £25 a month per location.
- Hardware: for example Square Terminal £149 + VAT and Square Register £699 + VAT.
Chefzi pricing
Chefzi is from £9 a month per location, or £19 a month with online card payments through Stripe (excluding VAT), with 0% commission, no setup fee and free migration. The POS is part of your Chefzi plan, with no separate POS subscription. Online card payments go through Stripe at Stripe's standard fees. Full details are on Chefzi pricing. Card payments at the till are taken on your own external card terminal and recorded on the till as card. Chefzi POS does not connect to card terminals.

When Square may suit you better
