The best GloriaFood alternatives for UK takeaways: a fair comparison

Updated 19 October 2026 · Arslan Munir

GloriaFood closes on 30 April 2027, and Oracle has said it cannot recommend a replacement (Oracle EOL FAQ). So thousands of restaurants are choosing one themselves, and most “best alternative” lists are written by vendors who put themselves first without showing their working.

We’re a vendor too. Chefzi is one of the options below, and we’ve put it at the end. Here is what we’ve done to keep this useful:

  • Every price comes from the provider’s own public pricing page, checked on 19 October 2026 and linked at the bottom. Where a provider doesn’t publish a price, we say so instead of guessing.
  • We judge on criteria that matter to a UK takeaway, not on feature counts.
  • We say who each option suits, including when that isn’t Chefzi.

Prices change. Check the linked pages before you decide. This is a comparison article. The commercial page is the GloriaFood alternative.

First, what did you actually use GloriaFood for?

GloriaFood was popular because the core ordering was free. Your best replacement depends on which parts you relied on:

You used GloriaFood for…You need from a replacement
The free “Order online” button on your own siteAn ordering page or embed, low fixed cost, no commission
A GloriaFood-built websiteA real website as well as ordering
Card payments onlinePayments into your own account, with clear card fees
Table reservations or depositsA booking feature, or a separate booking tool
The branded appAn app tier (usually costs more)
GloriaFood POSAn EPOS, or ordering that integrates with yours
Promotions to regularsPromo codes and a way to export your customer list

Most single-site takeaways fall into the first three rows. That matters, because what covers those three rows looks very different from what a multi-site brand needs.

The criteria that matter

  1. Total monthly cost per location, including VAT, in pounds.
  2. Per-order charges: a commission percentage, a flat per-order fee, or none.
  3. Card processing, which is usually separate from the software fee.
  4. Contract and minimum term.
  5. Data ownership: can you export your customers and orders whenever you like?
  6. Kitchen reliability: what happens if the tablet goes silent or offline?
  7. Menu move: will they rebuild your GloriaFood menu, or do you retype it?
  8. Website: included, optional or missing?

Work the numbers on your own volume. A plan that looks free can cost more than a flat monthly fee once you’re doing a few hundred orders a month, and a cheap monthly fee can be the wrong choice if you need an app. Our commission calculator helps with the marketplace side. The step-by-step move is the migration checklist.

The options

Flipdish

Published pricing (GB), as shown on flipdish.com on 19 October 2026: online ordering with a website from £49 per month, billed annually (£588 a year, or £69 if billed monthly, per site). The website-plus-mobile-app tier is from £79 per month, billed annually (£99 monthly). Kiosk is from £59 per month, billed annually (£79 monthly) (Flipdish online ordering). The point-of-sale page shows an essential package from £119 a month, billed annually, or £139 a month if billed monthly, excluding VAT (Flipdish pricing).

Suits: restaurants that want a branded app or kiosks and are comfortable with an annual commitment to get the lowest headline price.

Check: whether there are per-order or card fees on top for your setup, and what the monthly-billing price is compared with annual.

Our side-by-side: Chefzi vs Flipdish.

Storekit

Published pricing: a Starter plan with no monthly fee, a Grow plan at £99 per month, Pro at £199 per month, and Enterprise from £995 per brand per month. All prices are per location and exclude VAT. Storekit says every plan adds a flat per-order rate rather than a percentage commission, and kiosk is a +£69 per month add-on on Grow and Pro (Storekit).

Suits: brands that want a free start and will accept a per-order charge, or growing QSR groups that want catering and wider EPOS and delivery integrations.

Check: the per-order rate itself. Multiply it by your monthly orders and compare.

Square Online

Published pricing: you can start for free, and Square’s processing fee is 1.4% + 25p for UK cards (Square).

Suits: shops already using Square card readers or Square POS that want ordering in the same system.

Check: card processing is the main cost, so it scales with your takings. Look at how the kitchen is alerted to orders and whether you need any paid Square plan for the features you want.

Slerp

Slerp’s pricing figures weren’t shown on the page we checked, so we haven’t quoted any. Ask Slerp for a written quote per location. See Chefzi vs Slerp.

OrderYoyo

We haven’t quoted OrderYoyo’s prices here. Ask for a written quote including any per-order fees and contract term. See Chefzi vs OrderYoyo.

Staying on a marketplace only

Some GloriaFood users will think about relying entirely on a delivery marketplace. That’s a different model: you pay commission on every order. Uber Eats publishes 13% for self-delivery or collection and 30% when Uber delivers, excluding VAT, plus a £650 activation fee (Uber Eats). The marketplace also keeps the customer relationship. Marketplaces are good for being discovered and expensive as your only channel. See our breakdown of Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats commission. Just Eat’s 14% and 30% figures are reported there, with the source, because a direct fetch of just-eat.co.uk was blocked.

Chefzi

Pricing: £0 for the first three months, then £19 a month for cash or no-card payments, or £29 a month with online card payments through Stripe per location excluding VAT. 0% commission and no per-order fee from Chefzi. No setup fee, no contract, and you can cancel any time. Card processing is charged by your payment provider, not by us (Chefzi pricing).

What’s included: an ordering site for collection, delivery and pre-orders; a website generated from your menu; an Android kitchen app that rings until someone accepts or rejects, with SMS and then a phone-call alert if the tablet goes offline; delivery zones by area, radius or postcode; table QR ordering; PDF receipts and daily totals you can export; an embed for an existing website; promo codes; and the menu move, including from GloriaFood.

Suits: independent UK takeaways and restaurants that used GloriaFood mainly for direct online orders and want a low, flat, predictable cost.

Not the best fit if: you need a branded native app or self-order kiosks today. A provider with an app or kiosk tier will suit you better.

Real customer: The Polash in Southend-on-Sea takes orders on Chefzi.

How to decide in an afternoon

  1. Write down last month’s online orders and average order value.
  2. For each shortlisted provider, work out: monthly fee + (orders × per-order fee) + card processing. Use pounds, including VAT if you’re not VAT-registered.
  3. Ask each provider three things in writing: the contract term, how to export your data, and who rebuilds the menu.
  4. Ask for a demo on a real tablet in your kitchen, or at least a video of an order alert.
  5. Pick one, then follow the migration checklist.

Questions

What is the best alternative to GloriaFood in the UK?

It depends on what you used GloriaFood for. A single-site takeaway that used the free ordering widget mainly needs low fixed cost, no commission and a reliable kitchen alert. A multi-site brand may need an app, kiosk or EPOS integrations. Compare total monthly cost per location, any per-order fees, contract terms and data ownership.

Is there a free GloriaFood alternative?

Some providers advertise a free starting tier but charge per order or through card processing. Storekit’s Starter plan, for example, has no monthly fee but adds a flat per-order rate. Square Online can be started for free, with card processing charged at 1.4% + 25p for UK cards. Work out the cost on your real order volume.

Does Oracle recommend a GloriaFood replacement?

No. Oracle’s GloriaFood end-of-life FAQ says it cannot recommend third-party providers.

Should I move to Just Eat or Deliveroo instead?

Marketplaces bring new customers but charge commission on each order, and the customer relationship sits with the marketplace. Many takeaways use a marketplace for discovery and a commission-free system for direct orders. Check the marketplace’s price terms first: Just Eat’s UK terms include a price promise covering your own online channels.
