When does Just Eat pay restaurants? The weekly statement, explained

By Arslan Munir

Hands passing a printed receipt

This page is for restaurants and takeaways that sell on Just Eat. It isn't about courier pay. The facts come from Just Eat's partner help pages and its partner terms (the version dated 18 December 2025), checked on 23 October 2026 (see sources). Your own agreement is the one that counts, so check it if anything here looks different. Chefzi isn't affiliated with Just Eat.

The weekly cycle

Just Eat's partner sign-up page (FAQ 'How much commission will I pay?', checked 23 October 2026) says commission is deducted from weekly order revenue, the invoice arrives every Tuesday and the payout is every Friday. Just Eat's partner help page sets out the same week in more detail:

StepWhen
Invoicing weekMonday to Sunday
Invoice and statementTuesday, by email, on Partner Hub and on the Just Eat Orderpad
Bank holiday MondayThe invoice goes out one day later, on Wednesday
PaymentFriday, except at Easter and Christmas

The partner terms back this up in their own words. Each week Just Eat gives you a combined statement covering the previous Monday to Sunday. It then pays the amount due "within 7 (seven) days of the Statement by electronic funds transfer to your nominated bank account".

How long your money waits

Take a week in November 2026:

You take the order onIt goes on the statement sentPaid on
Monday 2 NovemberTuesday 10 NovemberFriday 13 November
Friday 6 NovemberTuesday 10 NovemberFriday 13 November
Sunday 8 NovemberTuesday 10 NovemberFriday 13 November

Card money from a Monday order waits 11 days. Money from a Sunday order waits 5. If you plan stock, wages or rent around Just Eat money, plan around Friday, not around the day of the order.

Holiday weeks to watch this winter

Just Eat's timetable moves at Christmas and Easter, and it says it will tell partners about the exact dates nearer the time. On the GOV.UK bank holiday list for England and Wales:

  • Friday 25 December 2026 (Christmas Day) and Friday 1 January 2027 (New Year's Day) both fall on what would be a Just Eat payment day.
  • Monday 28 December 2026 is the Boxing Day bank holiday. Going by Just Eat's own rule, that week's invoice would go out on Wednesday.
  • Good Friday, 26 March 2027, is another Friday bank holiday. Easter Monday follows on 29 March in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Don't assume the money arrives on the next working day. Check Partner Hub and Just Eat's emails for the confirmed dates. If you're preparing for the festive rush, our guide to Christmas opening hours and pre-orders covers the rest of the planning.

What's on the statement

Under the partner terms, each weekly statement shows:

  1. Gross order value, split between cash orders and card orders.
  2. The fees Just Eat is charging you. That's mainly commission, plus anything else your agreement includes. The rates are on our page about Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats commission, so we don't repeat them here.
  3. Balances carried over, plus anything paid or received since the last statement.

On card orders, Just Eat collects the payment as your agent. The terms say the money is held on your behalf, less its fees, until it's paid to you. Cash orders work the other way round: the customer pays you directly. The terms also say cash isn't accepted where Just Eat's own couriers deliver.

Why a busy cash week can mean a small payout

This is the part that catches people out. Commission is charged on cash orders too, but Just Eat never touched that money. So it comes off what Just Eat owes you for card orders.

A simple illustration, not a real statement: if card orders came to £1,500 and the week's fees, including commission on your cash orders, came to £600, you'd be paid £900, not £1,500. If you mainly take cash, the fees can be larger than your card takings. In that case you owe Just Eat the difference.

The terms are clear about what happens then:

  • You pay within 7 days of the statement, into the Just Eat account shown on it.
  • Interest can be charged on late amounts, at 1.5% above the Bank of England base rate, plus recovery costs.
  • Just Eat may stop accepting cash orders until you no longer owe money. It can also suspend cash orders at its reasonable discretion at any time.

Other things that can reduce a payout

The terms let Just Eat set off anything you owe it against what it owes you, at any time. They also let it hold back money for chargebacks (card payments the customer's bank reverses), for costs it expects from a breach or from apparent fraud, or where an authority tells it to. Held money is credited back on a later statement once it's clear no loss has happened.

If the customer was charged a service charge, the terms say it's tied to an admin fee Just Eat charges you. You can ask Just Eat to stop adding the service charge to customers' bills, but the admin fee still applies. Check your own agreement for whether that fee is in it.

Checking a statement in ten minutes

Do this every Tuesday, before Friday's money lands.

  1. Match the order count. Compare the number of orders on the statement with the orders you accepted that week.
  2. Split cash and card. Add up your cash takings from Just Eat orders. They should match the cash line.
  3. Check the rate. Pick three orders and work out the commission by hand at your contracted rate. If you use your own drivers on some orders and Just Eat delivers others, check one of each.
  4. Look for refunds and chargebacks. Make sure each one matches an order you remember and a reason that makes sense.
  5. Check the brought-forward line. It should match last week's closing figure.
  6. Note anything wrong straight away.

If something's wrong: 14 days

The partner terms give you 14 days from receiving a statement to dispute it, "setting out in detail your reasons". If you don't, Just Eat can treat the statement as accepted. Send the dispute in writing, list the order numbers and keep a copy. A phone call alone doesn't create a record.

Changing owner or bank details

If the restaurant changes hands, Just Eat's help page says the new owner's first invoice arrives on the Tuesday after their account goes live. A split invoice for the changeover week can be arranged by phoning Just Eat. Bank details are checked as part of the change-of-ownership documents, so send them early. A late form can mean a payment goes to the old account.

Getting paid on your own ordering page

None of this is a reason to leave Just Eat. For many restaurants it brings orders they wouldn't otherwise get. But a weekly statement, a commission that's on average up to 25% per order across the big delivery apps, and netting on cash orders all add up. It's worth knowing what the alternative looks like for orders from customers who already know you.

On your own ordering page with Chefzi:

  • Cash orders on the £19 plan: the customer pays you on delivery or collection. Nothing is owed back on that order, because Chefzi takes no commission.
  • Card orders on the £29 plan: the payment goes to your own Stripe account, set up through cash or card on your own ordering page. Stripe pays it into your bank on the payout schedule you set in Stripe. Stripe's documentation says the first payout usually takes 7 to 14 days after your first live payment, depending on your industry, country and risk level. You can choose daily payouts after that. Standard Stripe fees apply.
  • One monthly fee. Chefzi is £19 or £29 a month per location after the free period, excluding VAT. It isn't a percentage of your takings.
  • Your own numbers. You can see daily totals and receipts for every order and export them for your accountant. For VAT on what you sell, see VAT on takeaway food.

You can set it up alongside Just Eat and move customers from Just Eat to your website one order at a time. Orders placed inside Just Eat still pay Just Eat's commission. To see what that costs you, put your own rate into the commission calculator. For more ways to cut the bill, read how to reduce delivery app commission and our guide to restaurant profit margin. Frequently asked questions

What day does Just Eat pay restaurants?

Friday. Just Eat's partner sign-up page (https://www.just-eat.co.uk/partner/signup/, FAQ 'How much commission will I pay?', checked 23 October 2026) says commission is deducted from weekly order revenue, the invoice arrives every Tuesday and the payout is every Friday. Its partner help page, also checked on 23 October 2026, says the invoicing period runs Monday to Sunday, invoices are sent on Tuesday, and payment is made on a Friday, except at Easter and Christmas. Its partner terms say it pays the amount on the statement within 7 days of the statement, by bank transfer.

Why is my Just Eat invoice a day late?

Just Eat says that in a week with a bank holiday Monday, invoices go out one day later, so on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Friday payment can also move at Easter and Christmas, and Just Eat says it will tell partners about any exception.

What happens to commission on cash orders?

You keep the cash from the customer, but the commission on those orders still goes on the weekly statement. Just Eat takes it off what it owes you for card orders. If you owe more than it owes you, the terms say you pay within 7 days, and Just Eat may stop accepting cash orders until the balance is cleared.

How long do I have to dispute a Just Eat statement?

14 days. Just Eat's partner terms say that if you disagree with a tax invoice or statement, you must give notice within 14 days of receiving it, setting out your reasons in detail. Otherwise Just Eat can treat the statement as accepted.

How are card payments paid out on my own ordering page?

With Chefzi on the £29 plan, card payments go to your own Stripe account and Stripe pays them out to your bank on your Stripe payout schedule. Stripe says a first payout usually takes 7 to 14 days after your first live payment. Cash orders on the £19 plan are paid to you at the door, and Chefzi takes no commission on either.
